Welcome to a new year in the Creative Arts classroom

This semester, I am teaching Intro to Creative Arts and Grade 9 Creative Arts in term 2. Creative Arts classes focus on a variety of different activities with an emphasis on the elements of design and process based creation. We create in a variety of mediums including: watercolour and acrylic painting, stencil design and spray painting, printmaking, collage, paper mache, various clays including regular and polymer clay, and some multimedia work.

Clay, clay and more clay

Students have been busy over the past three weeks working on clay projects. The projects we have been working on include: a pendant or stamp, a dish of some kind, a seashore inspired piece and a choice piece. Students have been working hard and learning lots. As with pretty much everything, the more time put in creating in clay the better one gets. Remember we are working through a process here nad mistakes are allowed. Besides having a few arms go missing from snowmen and an octopus, a few bowls crack and break, we have had a very good season of clay creations. Photos of some finished projects will be posted soon. After clay, we will continue on with watercolour painting.
